Letters to Charles West Thomson from an unidentified itinerant painter [manuscript], 1835-1836.

A letter, 1835 June 28, from Athens, Ga.,describes a trip from Athens to Toccoa and Tallulah Falls and comments on a revival of religion. A letter, 1835 December 23, from Milledgeville, continued 1836 January 13, from Augusta, comments on the dismal state of the arts in Milledgeville; the poet Thomas Campbell; current commissions; and financial matters. Also a very brief comment on his dislike of slavery. The collection also contains Balfour family business and legal papers; letters to Moody Kent; letters to John Reed; and miscellaneous correspondence and business papers, 1802-1913. Collection also contains three scrapbooks kept by Robert Blakey, one on Political Essays, ca. 1817-1841, another one on Lectures on Logic delivered in Queen's College, Belfast, 1850, and a third entitled "The Old Vicarage or Digressions on Many Things, " 1819-1861.
